The Brief

The client came to us needing to rebuild their online store, previously running on WordPress. The old system had become too slow, difficult to scale, plagued by spam and bot attacks, and limiting when it came to building custom functionality.

The main goal: a platform that was fast, secure, independent, and flexible enough to support the business's future growth.

What Was Built

To get there, we moved away from WordPress's aging monolithic architecture toward a modern approach, and delivered the following:

1. A clean migration off WordPress

We fully migrated the store off the old platform. All products, categories, the customer base and order history were carefully imported into a new, modern headless system (Medusa.js). This preserved every piece of important business data while unlocking a completely new level of speed and content-management convenience.

2. Deployment on a dedicated VPS

Instead of standard shared hosting, we deployed the project on an isolated virtual private server.

  • What this delivered: full control over the infrastructure, independence from noisy neighbors on shared hosting, blazing page-load speed, and the ability to scale server resources on demand during peak load (sale periods, for example).

3. Advanced bot-network protection

Since the old site suffered from parasitic traffic, security became a priority. We rolled out comprehensive infrastructure protection:

  • Configured traffic filtering and a Web Application Firewall (WAF).
  • Blocked automated scripts (bots) that were scraping prices, placing fake orders, or overloading the server.
  • Protected the API against brute-force attempts and DDoS attacks, keeping the store stable even under aggressive external pressure.

4. Custom modules built for the business

The client's business processes needed functionality that didn't exist in standard off-the-shelf solutions. We built and integrated custom modules, including:

  • A bulk editor for products and attributes
  • Custom payment modules
  • Nova Poshta shipping integration
  • Custom pricing logic
  • Telegram integration as a registration, notification and customer-communication channel

The Result

The client got a modern, fast and secure e-commerce platform that they fully own and run on their own infrastructure.

  • Page-load speed jumped by a large margin (mobile Google PageSpeed went from 46 to 96).
  • Server load from junk traffic and a bloated WordPress install dropped to a minimum.
  • The new architecture makes it easy to add any new functionality going forward, without the workarounds and limits the old WordPress build used to impose.
